Launched by KLM Netherlands in June 27, 2013, Aviation Empire is 3D freemium strategy game for iOS and Android. KLM is the first airline to let players experience what it is like to manage an airline via a game.

According to KLM, Aviation Empire is not just a promotional game, but a true strategy game where players could invest in a fleet, build a flight network with international destinations and develop their own airports.

The Aviation Empire game combines the beauty of digital world with the real world by sing real-life GPS check-in where players can unlock close to 70 airports.

Available for iOS and Android devices, players can play acress tablet and smartphone on the same platform. Every players could earning a game credits, as well as badges as reward. With the game credits, players could buy the latest aircraft and landing rights, and continuously develop their airports. Players also can further expand and personalize their fleet with in-app purchases.

As part of the brand campaign strategy, the player of Aviation Empire could logging in with their social media accound where they can share their achievements with their friends. Leader boards display players’ positions in the world and in relation to their friends. A dedicated Facebook page also has been created which connects players to KLM, the game developers and each others.

The Aviation Empire is developed in close cooperation between KLM, Monpellier Venture and Little Chicken Game Company. 180 beta testers put the game through its paces to help optimise the gameplay, its images and look & feel.
