Launched on the end of July 2020 by The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), Rediscover Abu Dhabi is summer holidays campaign for residents that attributed to the boost in domestic tourism activity.
Aimed to share the best of the emirate with residents and offer a range of deals on shopping, activities, stays and more, the campaign invite residents to rediscover things to do in Abu Dhabi, as well as places to visit in Abu Dhabi.
Ensuring the safety of all residents, staff and visitors, DCT also launched Go Safe campaign that ensuring high safety levels are maintained at hotels and attractions across the emirate.
On August 2020, a new set of hotel offers also have been introduced and if anyone from outside of Abu Dhabi want to books a stay, they will get the cost of the COVID-19 test needed to cross the border covered.
Staycation deals are available at some of the city’s best hotels including Emirates Palace, Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island, Saadiyat Rotana Resort and Villas, The Ritz-Carlton, Abu Dhabi, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers and more.
As result, on the end of November 2020, DCT Abu Dhabi has announced a significant increase in revenues from tourism activity in the third quarter of 2020, including an increase of 46 per cent in hotel revenues, with a 95 per cent increase in the number of guests.
Despite the profound disruptions caused by COVID-19 restrictions to public mobility, the result was attributed to the boost in domestic tourism activity led by DCT Abu Dhabi through campaigns and initiatives such as ‘Go Safe’, ‘Unbox Amazing’ and ‘Rediscover Abu Dhabi’.
