Announced on November 2020, ITB Berlin NOW is new virtual platform of the global B2B travel industry featuring the main elements: networking, news, business and content.
On October 2020, Messe Berlin announced that ITB Berlin 2021, the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show will take place as an entirely virtual event. The desicisioin was taken after weighing all the circumstances.
ITB Berlin 2021 and the accompanying ITB Berlin Convention also will be open to trade visitors only. The trade visitor days will take place from 9 to 12 March 2021, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CET, adding an extra day to the event.
With the name ITB Berlin NOW – ‘The Digital Meet-up for the Travel Industry’, the virtual event format targets the B2B community, namely exhibitors, trade visitors and buyers from every segment of the global tourism value chain, as well as journalists and travel bloggers.
Beginning on 16 February, the virtual ITB Berlin will open for an “exploration phase”. Exhibitors have until 8 March 2021 to register for the event. Travel professionals will then be able to set up their profile and get accustomed with the functionalities of ITB Berlin NOW. During the live event phase all participants will then be able to use the many services including contact matching, exhibitor profiles, conference content and industry news. The soft opening itself will take place on 8 March, the eve of the event.
After the event, registered users can continue to visit the platform until 31 May 2021. During this period the entire range of content will remain available on demand. As in previous years, the ITB Berlin Convention will take place as a parallel, virtual event, and bring invite high-profile experts on stage to discuss the latest tourism industry topics.
The global tourism industry is struggling with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. However, positive developments such as vaccine rollouts in many countries have led tourism providers around the world to be cautiously optimistic about travel in 2021. There is also a positive mood among the approximately 2,000 exhibitors from 120 countries who have currently registered for this year’s ITB Berlin NOW, the online platform of the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show.
