Queensland Music Trails, When Music Festival Meets Road Trip

See (and hear) something special at some of Queensland's most special places.

This year, Queensland Music Festival gets a brand refresh as Queensland Music Trails after almost thirty years since first emerged and cemented itself as one of Australia’s most iconic events.

The new look, new team and new brand of Queensland Music Trails bring the concept as world first music initiative that blends new music and new experiences in some of Queensland’s most interesting places.

As result of the brand refresh, the state-wide festival, Queensland Music Festival, itself now going shortened moniker as ‘QMF’.

Queensland Music Trails, Official Launch Video Campaign

The very first Queensland Music Trail gets Aussies out of the Big Smoke, and into that great big beautiful backyard of the Queensland outback. Queensland Music Trail is totally reimagining the Aussie road trip, turning the festival format on its head and putting on a bunch of unique events in some fine locations. The best bit, everyone’s invited along for the ride!

Queensland Music Trail is kicking off in June and July this year with The Outback Trail, a road trip through the Western Downs, into the heart of the Australian outback and towards the red desert, jam packed with weird and wonderful events along the way. From discovering bands at the most regional music festival on earth, to experiencing music under the stars with a glass of bubbles, The Outback Trail will marry the best of Queensland’s southern outback across small towns, big cities and natural wonders with ripper live music.

Future trails will explore Tropical Far North Queensland, South East Queensland, East Coast (Mackay to Sunshine Coast) Cape Trail (Townsville to Bamaga), Gemfields (Emerald to Middlemount) and Coast to Coast (Yarrabah to Burketown). How good!

The Outback Trail is presented by QMF and supported by the Australian Government through the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund, and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland’s Spaces and Places Activation Fund. The event is also supported by Tourism and Events Queensland and features on the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar.
